Anchorage Nelson Reserve Syrah 2015

WINE: Syrah 2015

REGION: Nelson

STYLE: dry

VINEYARD: Sourced from fruit that has been grown for us on a vineyard overlooking the Waimea Plains. The gentle rolling hills help to soak up the Nelson sun.

WINEMAKING: The handpicked fruit was gently destemmed and put into open top fermenters. After adding a little oak and a suitable yeasts the fruit was hand plunged three times a day and once the ferment had stopped we left the skins to sink to the bottom. To maximise colour and flavour extraction malolactic fermentation was partially done still on skins and the finished after pressing the grapes. The wine was then left to mature and settle.
A week before bottling it was filtered and finally bottled.

APPEARANCE: Dark plum red in colour.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Plum, currents and white pepper show quite prominent on the nose followed by some more subtle dark berry flavours and lightly toasted notes.

PALATE: Juicy fruit flavours like dark plum and berries with a hint of mint and white pepper get rounded with a touch of dark chocolate.

ACCOMPANIMENTS: Anything meaty that likes a sizzling barbeque or a roasting pan.

Anchorage Nelson Reserve Gewurztraminer 2017

WINE: Reserve Gewürztraminer 2017

REGION: Nelson

STYLE: off dry

VINEYARD: Fruit for our 2017 Gewurztraminer was sources from two sites, our Flett Road Vineyard in the Moutere and from a vineyard in Riwaka close to the Motueka river mouth.

WINEMAKING: The fruit was machine harvested early in the morning whilst the grapes are still cool to lock in those perfumed aromas. The grapes were processed and crushed and left sitting on skins for several hours before pressing. Treated that way the juice takes up all the perfumed flavours from the delicate skin and paired with a slow cold ferment we manged to keep all those floral flavours.

APPEARANCE: Very pale yellow, with light green hues on the rim

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: The delicate perfume of rose petals, jasmine and orange blossom with a subtle hint of Turkish delight and lychee lead to soft and lingering finish

PALATE: With a restraint balance of natural residual sweetness and a low acid our Gewürztraminer enhances the floral and spicy flavours that make this variety so unique.

ACCOMPANIMENTS: Gewürztraminer does compliment Asian food with its floral flavours and ginger like spicy character.

Torrent Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2016

WINE: Sauvignon Blanc 2016
REGION: Nelson
STYLE: Dry
WINEMAKING: Each vineyard site was picked separately to ensure optimum flavour and ripeness. After destemming and gently pressing the grapes, we chilled the juice and cold settled it for several days so we get clear juice to ferment at low temperatures to preserve the volatile flavours. Left to mature without sulphur on fine lees the wine was finally stabilised and filtered
APPEARANCE: A pale yellow, with light green hues on the rim
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Plenty of passionfruit and some cassis are prominent on the nose. Almost perfumed aromas of orange blossom and lime make an appearance.
PALATE: Gooseberry, crisp apple and the subtle juicy tropical flavours of pineapple and passionfruit lead the way to a clean fresh palate with a nicely balanced mouth-feel.
ACCOMPANIMENTS: Chilled just as is or with fresh seafood on a balmy day.
