Anchorage Chardonnay 2018

Winemaking:
Dictated by the weather Gods, we brought in all our Chardonnay at once, and in any other given year, the results could have been much different to the results we achieved.
We harvested grapes with an average sugar level but with an unusually high acid, which ended up being a blessing in disguise, as we managed to get through full malolactic ferment adding a soft creamy texture to light but fruity Chardonnay that had only a little oak influence during primary ferment.

Style:
Dry

Appearance:
Pale Golden in colour.

Impressions:
First impressions on the nose are of quince with an afternote of rockmelon and ginger. On the palate our Chardonnay presents itself with perfumed notes of feijoa and pear, with a subtle crispness that balances between savoury and sweet notes to perfection.

Accompaniments:
This Chardonnay is the perfect accompaniment to a delicious risotto, warm lamb and feta salad, or a spicy Asian stir fry. Great for after a hard day's work drink or with your nightly meal.
Technical Notes:
Vintage: 2018 Appellation: Nelson Region
Fermentation: 100% stainless steel (no malolactic)
Residual Sugar: 1.4 g/l Acidity: 6 g/l Alcohol:12.5%

Anchorage Nelson Gewurztraminer 2017

AWARDED 5 STARS BY PETER SAUNDERS

WINE: Gewürztraminer 2017

REGION: Nelson

STYLE: off dry

VINEYARD: Fruit for our 2017 Gewurztraminer was sources from two sites, our Flett Road Vineyard in the Moutere and from a vineyard in Riwaka close to the Motueka river mouth.

WINEMAKING: The fruit was machine harvested early in the morning whilst the grapes are still cool to lock in those perfumed aromas. The grapes were processed and crushed and left sitting on skins for several hours before pressing. Treated that way the juice takes up all the perfumed flavours from the delicate skin and paired with a slow cold ferment we manged to keep all those floral flavours.

APPEARANCE: Very pale yellow, with light green hues on the rim

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: The delicate perfume of rose petals, jasmine and orange blossom with a subtle hint of Turkish delight and lychee lead to soft and lingering finish

PALATE: With a restraint balance of natural residual sweetness and a low acid our Gewürztraminer enhances the floral and spicy flavours that make this variety so unique.

ACCOMPANIMENTS: Gewürztraminer does compliment Asian food with its floral flavours and ginger like spicy character.

TECHNICAL NOTES:
Harvest date: 22nd March 2017
Winemaker: Stefan Heinrich
Alcohol: 12.2%v/v
Residual sugar: 12.5 g/L
Acidity: 6.2 g/L

Anchorage Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Winemaking:
2018 brought us fruit that needed to be looked after slightly different to normal years. Ferment temperatures with 16-18?C were higher than usual but helped the yeasts to form more of the ripe tropical flavours that we normally have come from the vineyard. It was also critical to keep the ferments clean and made us rack them a bit earlier than usual so we could maintain those elegant flavours.

Style:
Medium.

Appearance:
A pale yellow, with light green hues on the rim.

Impressions:
Plenty of gooseberry with some cassis and passionfruit are prominent on the nose. Perfumed aromas of lime also make an appearance.
The palate is led by more gooseberry and cassis, with subtle tropical flavours of pineapple and passionfruit rounding up this drop with a nicely balanced mouth- feel.

Accompaniments:
Chilled as is, after a hard days work, or with a tasty white meat dish like roast chicken, as well as delicious seafood such as crayfish and scallops.

Technical Notes:
Vintage: 2018 Appellation: Nelson Region
Fermentation: 100% stainless steel (no malolactic)
Alcohol: 12%
